Small disclaimer: Don’t get your knickers in a twist, current Mods! Love you too, but this is mostly about Mods of the 50s and 60s.
Things to Listen To:
Impossible to list all the great Mod music from the early years, but you can make a good start with Get On the Right Track: Mod R&B, Jazz and Ska from Fantastic Voyage records. Browse their catalogue for many other excellent collections in the jazz, blues, R&B, soul and ska genres.
Ace Records are another essential source for the main Mod musical styles.
Hear a carefully curated selection of outstanding tracks, and learn about contemporary Mod, weekly with the mighty Punks in Parkas podcast by the discerning DJ Penny Lane.
Ms. Lane also appears on We Are the Mods!, the some-music-mostly-discussion podcast headed by DJ Warren Peace–news and opinions on all things Mod. Mr. Peace has discontinued this podcast as of spring 2015, but many excellent back episodes are available here, among other places.
